Four ticket booths on the eastern side of Disneyland’s esplanade have been demolished, bringing the number of removed booths to six and leaving two still standing, according to WDW News Today.
The demolition is connected to preparations for a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard. Disney announced in mid-August that the four eastern booths would be removed for the project. Two booths on the western side of the esplanade had already been demolished to make room for the planned Porto’s Bakery in Downtown Disney.
Aerial views captured from the Disneyland Monorail show rubble inside the construction area, along with two excavators and a Bobcat. Construction walls surround the site, limiting ground-level views to the arms of construction equipment.
The two remaining ticket booths are located between the transportation hub and the entrance to Disney California Adventure. They remain open, while guests can also purchase tickets in person at the Lost and Found booth.
The planned pedestrian bridge will connect the esplanade to a new parking structure and transportation hub on the current site of the Manchester Cast Member parking lot. The future parking structure is expected to include approximately 6,000 parking spaces and 302 electric-vehicle charging spaces. Plans also call for a dedicated area for shuttles and rideshare vehicles, security facilities, and access for traffic from Disney Way.
Construction of the parking structure, transportation hub, and bridge is part of DisneylandForward, an expansion project intended to prepare for additional visitors as Disney develops new attractions and experiences. The source report identifies two new rides planned for Avengers Campus, a Coco attraction planned for Pixar Pier, a reimagined Tomorrowland, and an Avatar land that remains in development.
The demolition of the four eastern ticket booths marks the first visible step described in the report toward construction of the new pedestrian connection.
