Crews have begun preparing Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland for the addition of animatronic Anzellan droidsmiths, according to WDW News Today. The figures are expected to appear inside the shop, but Disneyland has not announced when the installation will be completed.
A built-in shelving unit behind the cash wrap has been cleared and redecorated for the new figures. The area includes three themed stands where the Anzellans will sit, along with wall panels and shelves designed to give the characters elements to interact with.
The display has also been dressed with artificial grease and grime, while fake wires extend from a tube on the ceiling. The preparation suggests the Anzellan droidsmiths will be incorporated into the existing Droid Depot environment rather than presented as a separate attraction.
The animatronics were previously shown at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Cast Members at Disneyland did not know when the Anzellans would be installed, leaving the timing of their debut unconfirmed.
Anzellans are a species from the Star Wars franchise. Babu Frik was the first Anzellan to appear in the franchise, in “Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker.” The species has since appeared in “Young Jedi Adventures,” “The Mandalorian,” and other Star Wars productions.
Droid Depot is located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, where guests can build droids. The upcoming addition will bring the animatronic Anzellan droidsmiths into that existing shop environment.
