Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is set to reveal more information about its Harry Potter development on September 7, including details about the project’s three planned themed lands. A countdown accompanying a teaser is scheduled to end at noon UAE time that day.
The development was announced by Miral and Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022 as a single Harry Potter-themed land described as “significant in scale.” The companies said at the time that guests would be able to enter familiar locations from the wizarding world “in an all-new way.” Miral was still referring to the project as one themed land in May, when it described an expansion featuring the Harry Potter land and two new DC-themed rides.
A teaser shown during a livestreamed Back to Hogwarts Showcase ends with the messages “Three new themed lands” and “Reveal – 7 September.” It features the enchanted Ford Anglia from the Harry Potter films flying past the Warner Bros. World water tower.
Theme Park Insider reports that a video on the official Harry Potter channel identified the three areas as Hogwarts, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest. Blooloop, however, said an updated page accompanying the teaser confirms three Harry Potter-themed lands but does not name them. The available information therefore does not establish whether those three locations are the final official names or whether they correspond directly to the areas included in the development.
No attractions have been officially disclosed. Earlier planning documents and industry reports examined by The National suggested the project could include Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest, along with approximately three original rides. It is not known whether those locations match the three lands referenced in the latest teaser. Concept art and attraction names have also not been released.
The Harry Potter development is planned for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi on Yas Island. Like the existing park, it is expected to be indoors and climate-controlled. The project would be the first Harry Potter theme-park development in the Middle East and the first permanent project based on the franchise outside parks operated by Universal Studios.
An advertisement posted in May by Entertainment + Culture Advisors, a consultancy working on the project, said the development was expected to open in 2029. Miral has not confirmed that timeframe, and no official opening date has been announced. The September 7 reveal is expected to provide further information about the lands and their attractions.
