Exterior refurbishment is continuing at Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree in Disneyland’s Bayou Country, with workers removing much of the surrounding landscape as they prepare to expand seating at the restaurant.
According to WDW News Today, the work has been underway for several months. Jagged wood construction walls have been installed beside the walkway leading to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, while a sign on the barriers indicates that Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree remains open during construction.
The current work has affected sections of the walkway, grass, and flowerbeds around the restaurant. Dirt has been shifted to expose pipes and other underground infrastructure, and a trench has been lined with white fabric. Open pipes and temporary wooden structures are visible within the construction area, along with sandbags, buckets, and ladders.
A small section of rebar has also been installed beneath the restaurant’s bear statue. The report described that work as likely preparation for concrete to be poured later, rather than confirming a specific upcoming construction step.
Safety and protection measures are visible throughout the area. Orange fencing surrounds one of the existing trees, yellow caution tape marks a light pole, and the words “Open Hole” have been spray-painted on plywood boards below. Several wood pillars supporting the restaurant’s upper deck have been wrapped in protective lining.
The refurbishment can also be seen from the restaurant’s deck. Temporary lighting has been strung across wood beams and the construction walls, while additional work below the deck exposes more underground piping.
Disney has not announced when the work is expected to be complete. For now, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree continues operating while the seating-related construction and surrounding exterior work proceed.
