Universal Prepares to Demolish Former Treasures of Poseidon Shop

Theme Park Report

The former Treasures of Poseidon gift shop at Universal Islands of Adventure is now behind construction walls, as Universal prepares to demolish the building in The Lost Continent area. According to WDW News Today, crews moved the walls forward to block the shop and part of the nearby walkway. The gift shop permanently closed earlier this year but had not previously been enclosed by construction barriers. The demolition follows the removal of Poseidon’s Fury, also in The Lost Continent. Universal has not announced what will replace either the former gift shop site or the broader area. Across from Treasures of Poseidon, construction walls near Mythos have been moved back slightly to provide additional space along the walkway. Crews have also removed a snack stand and trees from that area. Mythos is scheduled to permanently close next year, according to the report. Thunder Falls Terrace in the Jurassic Park section of Islands of Adventure is expected to become a full-service restaurant, helping fill the gap left by the closure. The latest changes continue activity in The Lost Continent, but no replacement attraction, restaurant, or other future use for the area has been announced.
